GOING BEYOND—When it’s time to hit the trail, this app helps you disconnect from the distractions of our modern, connected lives so you can fully enjoy the outdoor experience. Includes reminders to turn off Facebook and Twitter notifications so that your phone isn’t buzzing with posts and tweets while youre on your outing. And you can post an automatic message from within the app to Facebook and Twitter to tell friends that youll be “beyonder” for a specified time—which also lets them know when to expect you back home safe and sound. Of course, if you can’t completely unplug, you can easily take, edit and share photos of your outing with friends back in civilization.

WISDOM BEYOND—A fun sampling of outdoor wisdom and inspiration, for whenever you need it. Weve loaded it up with quotes, plant and animal identifiers, and tips on tying the most common knots.
